Well, some of you know I just painted my 48 f1. Yesterday, I painted the Ford logo on the tail gate. This is one of the things on the F1 that won't come off the truck to be paijnted. And it really looks good painted in a contrasting color to the base color of these old trucks. I achieved the lines by using Glad Presss and seal. That stuff is very thing and flexible. It gets down in and around the small areas of the lettering. Once I got it secured with no bubble in it, I shot it with my airbrush. Then ripped the press and seal off, and walaaah! I posted a pic in my gallery
I like the look, your right nice contrast between the red and black. My father in law's 56 had white block letters on the tailgate when he bought it, but they started to come apart so he peeled it off. His had some kind of tape. Looks good!!
Maybe I will paint my Ford script when it's time.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. You take the press and seal, then I used a pencil eraser to make sure it stuck down in between the letters. Once you get that, then you can start trimming. The way to do that, is to just foloow the crease where the letters end,at the flat part of the tail gate. It's a little tedeous, but it worked well for me. I 'm pretty good at freehand stuff, but didn't want it to look crappy . One false move with a brush, and you have to start over. I have a plotter here at the shop, but could not find the right font for the emblem. Other wise I would have just cut the letters out and transfered the outer portion around the letters, and shot away. Just take your time, and you will find it turns out very well. I did have to use my coke bottle cheaters(old man glasses) to be able to see what I was doing though.
Last year when I fabricated my valve covers I experimented with Frisket Film but didn't have much luck. It didin't seem to want to follow curves very well. I ended up finding a masking film at the local hobby store for painting plastic models that worked allright.
I will be using two contrasting colors on my tailgate; will have to freehand the outside stripping. Have also looked for other masking products to no avail. Would like to redo my speedo gauge someday, using art product to mask.
Well I cant see it Since the change in the format, I cant view other's galleries Any help here??
Terry - very likely you were set to log on automatically. When they changed, it logged everyone off, and you had to re-log on to get all your "stuff". Try logging off, and logging on. If you are like me, you forgot your original password. When you go to log on, there's a link that allows you to "reset" the password.
That's funny you mention the scanner. I have a very expensive plotter , but no scanner. Go figure. I need to get a scanner with all the art work I do, it would only make sense.
