I have a motor with a streetmaster intake. everyone is always talking bad about them. would i get an improvement by installing the original 4v intake. I have 4.10 rearend and i will be using it mostly as a weekender truck. I'm putting an edelbrock 600 on it. How do i tell if the original is dual planed or not. I know it has two sides at different levels.

Yep POS if there ever was one. Just toss it in a box send it out to me, sure I can find somewhere to dump it.
The streetmaster is a pretty good intake. I have no experience with them, but they have performed well on dyno tests compared to many other intakes. The stock intake is a dual plane. I would keep the streetmaster on it for performance and to save lots of weight because the stock cast iron piece is VERY heavy, but thats just me.
All stock intakes on 460s were dual plane manifolds. I would say that if the engine is stock that the stock manifold would help in the low end in the torque department. The horsepower impovements are pretty much useless on a stock motor, because the cam limits you to around 4500 rpm and all the dyno horsepower gains are up at 5500.
