Hello everyone,
I have an Edelbrock Streetmaster on an old tired (but never rebuilt) 390 at home and even though I am going to use the Performer RPM on my 403 (.060 over 390) I was just wondering if these intakes (the streetmaster that is) are any good. Are they single or dual plane?
Thanks
If I recall correctly the Streetmaster was a single plane that was designed to improve the bottom end. Never cared for them myself. In my book the 428PI/427MR factory aluminum or the Edelbrock F427 are the best all around FE intakes ( this includes the Blue Thunder and Performer RPM's too)
I ran a Streetmaster on a 390 many years ago. It is a single plane, but if I remember right they are smaller plenums and didn't hurt bottom end at all. In fact I used to just mash the pedal in a second gear roll and take the tires off instantly. Shifted just fine at 6000. Perf RPM is probably a better manifold, but the SM will still work fine in an average engine.
