ps pump pulley removal

ps pump pulley removal

how do i get the pulley off? do i need a special tool?

Yes, Harbor freight sells them for $8.00.

Use the proper tool or replace the damaged pump from using the wrong tool

There is a special tool that you can probably get at any auto parts store, it locks onto the lip/ring at the end of the pulley and you just tighten it down to pop off the pulley, once you see the tool you will understand what i'm talking about.

another question, apparently a previous owner bypassed the metal curves on the return line, do i need to reattach this?

Well a bearing seperator can help prevent bending the pully so get a bearing seperator and gear puller.

The "metal curves" is an attempt by ford at a power steering fluid cooler. With it attached to the front of the cross member covered in oil, dirt and crud I don't think they do too much.

if it is disconnected, it probably was leaking, I've had a few leakers

for the pulley removal, Advance/Autozone usually have the pullers, that you can use for FREE (bring it back and get the rental fee back)
