I had a nice day Sunday after church I came home had lunch and was watching the race . I got a phone call from gramschm his waterpump went and he was having a little difficulty so I went to lend a hand. Well I got Deke off on the right foot, I had to leave him and go to praise band practice at church, I notice on the way to the church I have a message on my phone mudder460 called and he needs my cherrypicker to unload a 460 later that day. So during practice I get a call from Scott ,hey do you want to put a modded IDM in your truck come on over. So I get my gang together and go to Scott's we do a picture step by step R&R on my truck so it can be posted for instructions that was cool. The mod works great we went for a test drive and I could feel a difference. Then Andy calls ,I'm about 30min from my house so Scott and I head over to Andy's to unload a 460 he found in a Lincoln . After we get it unloaded who shows up but Mike (95Z71) just cruis'n up the street and he stopped for a little BS. It was getting late so we head back to Scott's and get my gang and go home. I got to spin wrenches and help my friends and none of this was planned I call that a good day.
Sounds like fun. Bout the only wrenching I did Sunday was putting my cb in my truck. Well I guess thats not realy wrenching since the only tool I used was a nut driver...
Yes Sunday was great!! Thanks again for helping with the motor. I must say the motor was a great find though. I was cleaning it up and spraying down the cylinder walls and look what was stamped on the heads......
Talk about a lucky find, this motor is stock 365hp and 500tq!!
I think it is a 1970, not a 1971. If you run the block number it is D=197X, 0=70, V=Lincoln E=engine, so I guess it is either a 70 Lincoln or a left over motor.
The motor was in my friends dads car. now that I tore into the motor some I can see why it was parked. Some of the exhaust ports in the heads were completely cloged. Here are some bad pics from my phone.
The d0ve 460 was pretty much the best set-up out there. These motors were used from 68-71. They had 10.5 o 1 compression, 365hp/500lb tq, 2.06" intake and 1.65" exhaust valves. These engines were monsters! After these years the ratings went down and within like 4yrs the 460 was under 200hp. That is the info I have found on them, I just started searching on them since this is my first one. I have always heard of them but never seen one.....till now!
