Some email ?s

So, I have 3 email accounts -- yahoo, hotmail, and one from my ISP.

I access them all from IE, but I think that somehow the're all being read by Outlook.

I don't care about that, but out of curiosity I opened up Outlook, which is set to open my ISP email. When I rechecked the account in IE, I noted that the messages I saw in Outlook had disappeared. I guess that Outlook removes them from the web.

Enough with the background, Is there any reason to link all of my emails to Outlook, and use it to open them? I don't get much email, and I'm perfectly content to open each account separately, so convenience isn't an issue.

Also, I'd like to know that I was sending stuff on a specified mode. While I don't do much email, I use my accounts for different purposes. I'd want to know that I was sending stuff out from the email that I chose.

This is a pretty lame note, but basically I just want to know more about the web accounts and Outlook. I have a good background in computers, and I use the web a lot, but I'm fuzzy on the details in this instance.

Thanks!

Yes it does unless you have it set to save on the server..

It is basically more convienient to open 1 program and access all 3 account..
The other advantage with outlook/outlook express is they offer more options than the web based emails..
I find it cumbersome when deleting emails from web based programs, where in Outlook you can highlight a large block of them and just hit the delete key. Usually web base programs have to have a checkmark next to them..

Also, I'd like to know that I was sending stuff on a specified mode. While I don't do much email, I use my accounts for different purposes. I'd want to know that I was sending stuff out from the email that I chose.
Usually when setting up multiple accounts in outlook allows you to select the account you want to send from.. There is 1 that would be the default and if you did not select an account it would be sent as the default one..

one drawback to using an email client (outlook) say on a desktop is, if you travel alot, you wont have access to yor emails you sent from outlook, or downloaded to outlook, Not a big deal to most people, but some people need the flexibility

I'm still hanging on to using Eudora as long as I can for all my email accounts (6-8 of them), except one work account. I use my laptop for my mail and like having mail from all accounts on one machine (not on a server) and accessible from one laptop. I use one ISP for sending most mail as they will support and authenticate-on-send account, which means I can send mail through them from anywhere I connect. I do keep a couple web based email accounts too, but just for emergencies or semi-anonymous use. Once Eudora is really outdated (they've stopped supporting it) I may try Thunderbird - I'm forced to use Outlook at work and I despise it.

I'm going to miss Eudora, it's got more features than any other mail sw I've found, including things like extensive logging to debug problems... (This is Eudora for the Mac, BTW - the Eudora for Windows is a totally different piece of junk.)

But basically I like all my stuff in one place that have access to and I control!

Thanks, that pretty much sets me straight.

I worked in software QA for years, and I've fooled with computing stuff as long as it's been available. However, I don't know a lot of details about email and some other web stuff because I don't use it much -- and I find it mostly boring.

FTE to the rescue again!
