GEM Replacement

So has anyone replaced a GEM on a 2000 Expy? I need to replace mine and need to know if it will need to be reprogrammed?

I don't think it is programmed, at least I've never heard anyone speak of it.

The GEM module must be matched to the rest of your vehicle.

Yes, they must be programmed by the dealer or equivalent.

I *think* the tech has to download the software from your GEM to his NGS scan tool, remove your GEM, install the new GEM, and then upload your software from the NGS to your new GEM,
