Wish I could help you on the ROMP. My truck had a romp when the engine was warm and it first started up.... ended up being a dieing IDM, However, a romp issue would be associated with a bad IDM maybe 2% of the time, there are a bunch of other things that could be. Wait for someone else to chime in here.

IDM is the Injector Drive Module, It it the computer module mounted inboard of the driver side fender. It's a rectangular silver box and it's bolted in place. It controls the injectors, hence injector drive module. Mine apparently had water in it and was on the way out. For most trucks however, its good or dead.

Oh Ok. I Dont Think That Would Be My Problem. I Had People Tell Me It Could Be The Valve Cover Gaskets Shorting Out But I Dont Know.

This question always puzzles me. On every old school diesel engine that we have turned up it smokes blue at idle. They do it cold/warm whatever. Must be the nature of those 404's and 466's.

If your o-rings are going out, it could be a long time before they give you any problems. Mine went out last summer. Not a bad repair either. Just take your time.

Robbgt, I'll take the instructions on the GP and injector o-ring replacements, if you can find them. I'll PM you with my email address.

Craig, got your PM, I'll send you a set as well as post them for anyone looking. Just need to get some torque specs. One tool you may need to borrow (this goes for everyone attempting this project) is a 3/8" drive in/lb torque wrench. Needed to torque down the injector hold down bolts. And yes, you really do need it

Ditto on the 3/8" torque wrench. The smallest one I have is a 1/2" and reduced it down and it was a pita to work with.

Also, if your pulling valve covers make sure to inspect the wiring too.

i don't know why everyone thinks his injector o-rings are going?? i JUST did injectors last summer and my truck smokes blue (ok it's not like straight blue... more like white when it's cold with a blue tint... but i consider that blue nonetheless) when it first starts up when it's cold for about 20-30 seconds

any diesel motor will smoke when the cylinders are cold, it is a perfectly normal condition. 7.3's are no different, nor are 6.0's they will all smoke. if they blow blueish white smoke on a hot engine then you have reason for concern. other then that ists normal.

here is my truck with a 100% operational glowplug system and a 100% good engine.

Humm... Mine was blowing a little blue smoke at startup. O-rings > Haven't seen blue smoke since. Guess it's just a roll of the dice...
