Another TPS or something else?
4 cyl 2.5,112,345 mi.
If I replace the TPS (throttle position senor) again-this would be the 3rd time. The original failed, and I've put in 2 since-so this would be the 3rd. The symptoms are, that it will not idle at the correct speed when shifting between gears and/or coming to a stop. The engine just races-and no amount of slapping the gas pedal will do anything to slow it down. The only thing that gets it back to almost normal-is to put it into 5th and letting out the clutch-until it almost dies. Then it comes back down to near normal-until I have to press the gas pedal again. When I have put in the previous TPS's they seem to fix the problem-but only for a while (the last one lasted from Sept. 2007 until now). My question is "Am I just getting parts from AutoZoned that are bad/questionable-and I should just keep replacing until I find a good one-OR is there some other cause I'm not looking at?" Could it be IAC? I have looked at threads dealing with that and I plan to clean/replace that as well. Thanks for any responses.

I did change the PCV valve with no results (it was only 1 year old and only 2 bucks). I sse the TPS Connector High Idle Service kit that Rockledge says would be needed. Any idea where I can get such kit?? Is it that the connector gets replaced?

Seeing as how the problem seems to clear up for a while after replacing a TPS, why not take a close look at the wiring harness electrical connectors contacts, to see if it's a corrosion, or bent pin/socket problem.
Seeing as how it'll be ok for a while after it's messed with, by plugging in another TPS, sure suggests it may be dirty/corroded contacts.
I also like the idea to clean the IAC, as they seem to be a pesky part, that cause plenty of idle problems.
If all this comes to naught, I'd sure look at the wiring harness rewiring kit in the article Rockledge posted. Your local Ford Dealer should be able to order one.
Let us know how it goes.
There it's out there!!
