I have noticed people wanting to swap out or i.d. c6 trannys ... Anyone know what years and models had the c6 as the stock factory automatic tranny?

 

Automatic transmissions

1983-1988 with C6

1989 and up with E4OD

Thats the general rule at least. There are reports of the C6 being a option after 1989 for another few years.


Manual transmissions

1983-1987 with T19 4 speed manual

1987 and up with ZF 5 speed manual

In theory this means that its possible to find a 6.9 powered truck with a 5 speed behind it for the 1987 model year. I know of at least one member that is actively looking for one of that year. Again, its possible to still find the odd truck after 1987 that still has a 4 speed manual.

 

the c-6 was available through 97 but only on fleet vehicles as an option all public sales were strictly E4OD

 

Does that cover the f150, f250 and f350's?

 

The 150 does not matter, they never had diesels.
A gasser tranny will not bolt up to a diesel.
