Not always. There are some C6's with the small-block bellhousing (as seen on a 302) and some C4's with the big-block bellhousing (as seen on a 385 series). A big-block C4 is very rare, but they do exist. A small-block C6 is more common, but far less common than a big-block C6. Because it's possible to find a small-block C6 bolted to a 302, it's best to check the pan to be safe.
