sounds like and ignition module to me...look for the infamous yellow dot of death on the face...if it ain't there it still may be bad, just take it to autozone and have it tested...eveytime i have had them go they always have weird symptoms like you are having.
i replaced that from autozone then a ford dealer and it didnt help at all then i actuatly took one off of my parts truck because it doesnt have any problems and still the same
They are on the radiator support top, behind the right side of the battery(looking at the windshield).
Theres a small bolt there that holds a few black wires . Take them loose and wire brush them clean.
I went through 4 TFI modules (even a $70 MSD version) in a year, before fixing the problem compleatly
I just recently had this same problem with my 95 F150 w/351. The problem with mine was the distributor gear was worn out and sometimes it would start and other times it wouldn't. I changed MAP sensor, Cap, rotor, wires, finally got a eec code reader and found out it was missing the PIP signal from the stator rotor INSIDE the distributor. When my mechanic took the distributor out to change the stator the gear was worn out.

Most likely it's either the ignition coil or the PIP inside the distributor. I would try a different coil first because it's cheaper and easier to change.
