When I checked the timing with an inductive timing light, I noticed the frequency of the strobe was inconsistent. It pulses at a consistent frequency for about 10 seconds then there is a noticable decrease in frequency for about 3 seconds. It just keeps repeating this cycle. The engine seems to run fine. It is a new rebuilt 302 long block. The distributor cap and rotor are 1 year old. The spark plug wires are 1 year old (but cheaper ones). Is this normal? Should I look for an ignition system problem?
