I'm tellin you boys, the one we got from Wal-Mart does it all. Plug it in, turn the key on, and wait. It'll tell you the code (P0301 for example) then give a description of it (Misfire on cylinder number 1). Then you can clear it or leave it there. It's neat. Something tells me it was about $100.
if it's an OBD II scanner, it'll do any vehicle from any manufacturer from 96 to now, just make sure it says "OBD II" on the package when u buy it and u'll be in the clear!
Pat, I know Sears sells several that read both OBDI & II. I know the store here in Lincoln only carries OBD II but in the free tool catalogs they sell better ones.
Yea......it'd be alright cause it's got the 3.8.....good power and mileage, but she's had it for a year and it's taken intake gaskets, a water pump, and has a few electrical problems......pretty young age for a car to have those sort of things going on with it. I will say that Chevies are not made to work on......have to remove the windshield washer tank just to get the battery out!!!! There's a few other things about the way the car is built that really makes me scratch my head. Seems these days they want us to take everything to a shop.......too bad for them I am a "shop"......
