Ok my trucks horns don't work I see it has one mounted on the radiator support and one also sitting on the passenger side inside fender. I have two horn buttons I have tried both and with either it still don't work. I have tried a test light on the plug ins with someone pushing the button and I get nothing. Anyone have any ideas on trouble shooting?
Oh and if anyone needs a horn button i got one pretty much mint condition. PM me for picture or if you want, Ill sell it cheap.
Cruise control horn pads have 3 connectors (one ground and the other two for the switches).
Non cruise only have 2. You have to spice your two black wires together on the non cruise horn pad and plug it into one of the two connectors.
You can test which one you need to connect them to by shorting it (the connectors on the column) out to ground until you here the horn work. Then just plug your spliced wires in and it should work. The horn pad merely completes the ground to the horn.
He's also using a column out of a 1981 pickup, which has some different wiring issues. Mainly the key in ignition warning buzzer wiring is missing in the 1981. And if the 1981 column didn't have cruise etc.
If he removes all of the cruise control wiring, (it should be simple, just unplug the cruise control part of the harness, and plug the remaining ends together. According to the wiring diagrams the cruise control harness plugs and plays with the standard main harness. so should be simple to remove.
He's got a lot of problems, spread over a couple of threads, and all are leading to the steering column wiring.

Let us know how you make out.
Ok yes behind the horn pad there are two connectors, i assumed the 2 wires on the horn pad went one to each connector but your saying I need to connect the two black wires together and figure out which one is for the horn?
Well ive never checked the horn relay, since I don't ever recall since Ive bought the truck that the horn has worked. BTW I got my light issue fixed.
Under the hood I jumped the horns off the hot side of the battery, they worked.
I then took the horn pad off and found which side was getting juice which it is the right terminal, I hook one to that and the other to the other terminal being it being a ground, but hold on it didn't work, then I got an idea to run a wire to my gear shift or keys and keep one wire hooked to the hot side, and the horn worked. Somehow the other terminal is being ground out by the hot, I even tried to ground it to the bar that goes across the whole steering wheel, but it didn't work. So How can get this fixed to where I can get it grounded under the horn pad,
You probably need to put a jumper wire around the rag joint at the steering box. This will ground the steering shaft which the steering wheel is bolted to. Then it can get it's ground through the steering box which is bolted to the frame. The factory rag joint may have had a strap across it, and maybe this got lost when the column was swapped.

Thanks Franklin, I never thought about that, Ill give it a shot when I go back out. Thanks everyone for all the help you have given me to get my truck back to working order!!!
I got my horn working, For some reason I couldnt still get a ground off the 2nd terminal so I had to attach a connector to the ground wire and I ran it to one of the screws that holds the horn pad on. HONK HONK
