I am smelling antifreeze when i turn my heater on smell goes away after a few miles of driving (or i get used to it(lol)how hard is it to change out the heater core any tips appreciated thanks TR PS should i hire this project out (pita) ?
I read the the post that you linked to and there is one problem.
In that post, it says to get the "high output" one. Don't do that unless you have a High Output heater box. They are different.
I saw one in the junkyard last week and it was the first time I have ever seen one. That truck also had the dual battery option and I grabbed the second battery tray. It mounts where your windshield washer/overflow tank goes.
Just an FYI in case you are thinking about getting the high output core.
Hmmm,
Sorry about that.
I hadn't read it in months and I suppose you're right!
I'm not really sure what the difference is.
The difference is in the way it mounts (the High Output) sits on an angle and it's much larger than the stock core. It also has a bigger fan I believe.
I'm thinking about grabbing the whole assembly and putting it in my truck. It can get pretty cold here in the winter.
I'm guessing that it was part of a plow package or something along those lines because of the additional battery too.
I'll try and post some pics tomorrow when I get back.
