Antifreeze is dripping out A/C drain, fogging up inside, smells like antifreeze. I am brand new to FTE can anyone tell me how to replace the heater core? Thanks
You will have to remove the glovebox door and some other odds and ends behind it. Disconnect the two hoses running to it through the firewall. Once you are in there it will be a fairly straight forward process. Pull the old one and replace...and as the manuals all say, "install is reverse of removal"
Success story on '95 thanks to FTE. Radiator shop said new core from O'reilly was "no leakie". I removed the glove compartment and unplugged something with a lot of wires. Disconnected heater hoses and removed 7 screws in the heater core cover. Two were not real easy to get to. Removed black and white vacuum hoses clips on the cover and disconnected blend door cable. The heater core came right out. I checked for trash by reaching in to the left then checked blend door movement. Transferred rubber seal to new core and reassembled. Finally, made sure blend door cable was adjusted correctly. Center **** control turned far left closes the heat off which is very important here in Texas. Everything took about 3 hours only due to many interruptions. Dash was never touched.
