I was cleaning my truck today and I noticed some anti freeze in the passenger floorboard. I am assuming my heater core is leaking maybe? I dunno what the problem is or how to fix it, and also my windsheild has been REALLY FOGGED up the last week and I am guessing this has something to do with it. I would really like to get this fixed, as this is very annoying. Yall help me out if you can I love this site.
Yes your heater core is leaking. Will have to be changed, its not so bad on the trucks. Just undo the lines in the engine bay, and pull the glove box out, and I think there is a hatch you take off and pull it out. I havent done one yet, but I was reading on here that its not so bad, so if you do a search on heater core change you will find how to. Unless someone answers before you find out.
Yeah, that fogging says there's moisture where you don't want it. I did one of these on a late '70s E250 a few years ago...it was cake compared to doing heater cores on cars or on the new trucks (which have airbags and all kinds of electro folderol in the way). Access is really easy and the part is out there for about $50...make sure it's not just an old dead hose or rusted out clamp first...might be even cheaper to fix. YES! I literally sat in my old brown bomber and watched them fog, then about 2 seconds after i noticed it i smelt antifreeze, then about 2 seconds after that my carpet was green. It was probably the easiest heater core ive ever changed! Good luck
Don't let yer guard down... these trucks are the worst... you gotta pull the cab off and turn it upside down to find the heater core....
Just kidding! it is the easiest to one to change! 30 minutes in and out if you are nursing a beer as I did! I had a black/white vac line attaced to my cover. Once off 8 or less screws with a 5/16 head were removed.... Bam! There she was. Do not try to remove thru glove box door. drop it out thru bottom and reinstall new one thru bottom. I bought the most convienient one for 22 bucks. It has crimp fit tubes over o-rings... I hope it has o-rings... I woulda rather bought one with brazed tubes so shop around!

I've done this one twice. I had to take the glove box out, but it slides through the bottom. Make sure the hoses are snug, that's why I had to do it twice!
thanks guys!!!! I am headed to oreilly to hopefully get r done this weekend! I really appreciate all the help guys. I put new plugs in her and changed the oil, then I washed her up yesterday. I'll try to get pictures up, but I am really busy I have been helpin my buddy lift his truck.
Ill hollar if I got any questions.... thanks again
I had to do mine twice also, but it was the heater core's fault. Trying to save money I bought the value one from Napa for ~$20. One week after the one month warranty, it started leaking. I went with their premium or whatever they call their "better" line for ~$60 and it's been fine for 4 years and about 80K miles.
hahah I called the auto parts store and they said they have two- a standard and a high output heater core. Should I just pull the one in there out and take it with me or how do I know which one I have? I have only had the truck for a few months so I am still learning things. Thanks a bunch..
it only takes a few minutes to pull the core.
i would look at it as a test run. pull the core and go match it up with the new one. this way you already have the job half done when you get back to install it.
