Not gonna sell we were payin 3.85 a gallon in AK 2 years ago so this aint bad at all. as for my take on the gas vs deisel i have had both and i like the v10's snappines and quiet idle we do get less milage but to eachhis own. by the way we get 11 in town and 16 hiway
I recently saw a photograph from the '70s that showed a gas station price of 61-cents per gallon. It got me to thinking & calculating. To me, gas is cheaper nowadays. That 61-cents back then represented almost 25% of an hour's wage I was earning. Gas can go to $4/gallon today and it still wouldn't be 15% of a current hour's wage. If gas prices had followed inflation, we would probably look at $6/gallon as a bargain. I'll keep the X.
I have a 2003 V-10 that I bought new. It has 56000 miles and runs great. We only use it now to pull our 9200 pound Travel Trailer. Works great. We travel 4-5 months of the year and park it the rest of the time. Haven't driven it since Nov.2007.
We leased a 2007 Fusion for most driving - wife car. Fuel savings just about pay for the lease fee of $259/month.
I drive a 1984 Turbo 2.3 Anny Mustang - fast and good gas mileage.
Fuel prices will not control my life - It does reduce what I buy for gifts.
I'm actualy in the process of BUYING a 2005 Exursion Diesel (4x4, Eddie Bauer edition, 38K miles).
I am forevery carrying people a lot of STUFF to Ren Faires, or towing my Toy Hauler Trailer, so I need a big vehicle like that. Can't really fit all that in to a Prius So I plan on keeping it for a while.
With all the Bio Diesel stuff on the horizion, I think it is going to be the best long term option for hauling all my stuff.
Gas prices forced me out of my F250. I couldn't afford two V10s but I wont be without one, so the X is staying. I have my Mustang now for good mileage.
i'll change that then im going to decide later this year
as i'm paying approx $2.20 a litre , (uk prices suck today)
now a tankfull cost me 166 litres x $2.20
$365 a tankfull
keeping her for now as very practical thing to do 8 kids .
but as i only average about 9mpg (all local use) i would probably use it mainly for long distance (family trips etc)
