Another Fuel Survey

Just as the title says.... another fuel survey.

Leading experts speculate gasoline will be $3.69 a gallon by July 4, 2008. Or more.

And diesel will be what then, $4.50 to $4.69 a gallon?

Who plans on keeping their Excursions? Who plans to bail out?

While it's a little irritating, it doesn't matter how high it goes. I am in for the long haul, at least 5-8 more years before I sell it! I figure every time I fill up and I am getting 16.5 mpgs in town and a minivan gets 17-18 in town, aint worth it to me, less safety for my wife and 4 kids in something smaller! If I was in a V-10 now that would hurt! My cost per mile driven is still less than the V-10's! I will be doing my own oil changes to make up a tiny bit for higher fuel prices which will save $50-60 bucks every 7500 miles for oil changes...... I drive 700 miles per tank of diesel and there is not a vehicle out ther that can do that either! I only fill up every 2-3 weeks so the impact on me is less than those who drivem daily to work etc...

Keeping mine since it's paid for. My wife and I are thinking about selling the Neon to buy a automatic car that will get 30 mpg. I bet money if we get such a car she'll still drive the X more!

Well, considering I just picked mine up this past Wednesday, I am keeping it! I bought it to tow the trailer, knowing that it will cost more to drive it.

Getting 18mpg hwy in my 5.4 Excursion. I may pickup a 30+mpg car for my commute but the EX does trailer-duty so it stays.

I've got a monster TV for a large TT...so until I decide to move on up to a Class-A...the Ex is the one I brung to the dance and will stay with!

What's my choice? Not share memories with my kids to save a few hundred $ per year?...memories my kids are getting will last their lifetime...can you put a price on that?

My Ex has been relegated to snow and tow duty of which she does both exceptionally well...look in my sig...we're lucky enough to have other daily drivers.

If the July 4th is the expected peak...I'm glad then that my 4,000 mile pull to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Arches and Denver is in mid June!

joe.

I agree, X Hemi Guy. I have spent a lot of time travelling on the road for business and have had a lot of "old timers" (they seemed like it then) tell me that they wish that they had spent more time with the family while they were younger. Build the memories, that is something that will last forever!

Bought two diesels for a reason. Looking at getting setup with making biodiesel soon. That should bring the price down about 75%.

I don't think so. I have 3 Ford diesels and counting: 6.9, 7.3 and Powerstroke and will never buy another gas engine.

NICE! I just started running B99 about 1 month ago. Love the stuff, was a little nervous at first but I can't even tell the difference, even mpg's are still 16.5 in city driving! I buy from a local fuel supplier so I am only saving .25 cents per gallon. All the more reason to keep this truck!!
