I am looking for another tranny for my 74 f-100 4x4 390 heres where i get a little confused. There are divorced and married transfer cases, I belive mine is a married case, where are the #located on the transfer case so I can identify what I have?? I found a used tranny on craigslist that came out of a 390 4x4. the info he sent me was...If your t-case is bolted to the transmission, you will need to put an output housing and possibly a new tailshaft on the transmission to match your t-case. If you have a D21 single speed case or a D20 case with a low range, this transmission -might- work with minimal modification. The D20 would have to be something someone swapped in, and the D21 single speed was the only case available on the F100 4x4 until 75 or 76.
If you have an F250, then you have a divorced case, usually an NP205, and that is what this tranny had behind it to begin with. I don't really understand what hes saying, I thought that all c-6 trannys from a 360/390 4x4 would be a direct swap
