72', F250, 390, 2WD - Near each end of the leaf springs is a bracket, on one spring the bracket is missing. The over-load springs were removed by the PO.
How important is this bracket and should I take it down to have them repaired or can I do it?? I do want to tow a 5,000 # trailer this summer. Would it be smarter to have the springs re-built, or replaced? Unfortunately no $$ for the latter, but we can plan for it..
Thanks!!
do you mean the retaining strap around the leaves
if so it is there to keep the leaves in alignment with each other
if they have not moved side ways to each other then don't worry about it
Thanks MHG! I heard the main purpose was during the assembly and pre-install, holding them together. Wanted to make sure, when I take the truck in to have the springs checked I wanted to have a clue.
