one time only leak?

I changed the brake pads in a 2002 Explorer yesterday and after checking to make sure everything worked properly, I noticed brake fluid in the front driver's side wheel well. I took everything back apart and tried to figure out where the leak was coming from and could not find anything. I reapplied the caliper grease to the pads and put everything back together. As far as I can tell today the leak is not occurring anymore. Is there some sort of pressure relief in the brake system that may have bled off when I was checking the braking? Any information is appreciated! Thanks!

check the master cylinder.sometimes when you push the caliper piston back into the caliper fluid will come out of the resivoir.especially if the pads were real bad and you had to push the piston in far.you said the leak was on the drivers side wheel well and the master is right above that.

most likely when you pushed the caliper piston back in it's bore
you forced excess fluid out of the resivour
did you open the bleeder valve on the caliper when pressing the piston

Negative. I didn't open the bleeder valve thinking I could avoid having to bleed the brakes later. Thanks for the info guys you have made me feel much better about driving this vehicle!
