Great info clark, now how do I decide what recurve parts
to buy, because u and I know that if I go
to the kid at the parts counter and ask him
for a recurve kit for a 76 351m going on 72 351c
thats going into a 79 f-100.........he won't
have a clue as to what I'm talking about
what should I ask myself to figure out what size
slots and springs I need?
well, you start with how much total timing you want to run, 36*/38* is popular for flat top pistons and stock heads.
then you decide how much initial timing you want to set at the crank, some guys like less for less ping, some like more for performance but might require octane.
subtract your desired initial from your desired total and you come up with how many degrees the distributor needs to provide. divide by 2 and this is your slot number.
Scotty at Reincarnation will do it all for you as per his page...
if you don't have a 13 slot but you have a smaller one, you can grind/file the slot to be .488, just make sure you remove material from the correct end of the slot...
Wonder if the durasparks will trigger from points like the MSD's. Anybody ever try it? 10-4 on swapping the guts around if you can find a 351 dizzy of any kind. Done that! LOL
