MLCinNCTX, we must be about the same age. Gas wars of the sixties .15 to .17 cents a gallon. I drove a VW bug and could fill it up for under 2 bucks!

I remember in summer of 90 we were working in Texas ,my boss had new 350 crewcab dually with 460.We had to run premium gas it it and that summer gas was highest it had been in few years we gave around 1.40 per gallon and it got 6-8 mpg's.I talked him into buying a new truck with the diesel motor we picked it up at dealer and ran it the rest of year on .70-.80 diesel and got around 12-14 mpg's.It paid for itself very quickly and he has owned nothing but diesels since.
