I must be some older than you guys. In the 60's I pumped gas that was $.159/for regular. That wass also full service with the windshield washed and oil checked. $5.00 was a fill-up. High test or "ethal" was a couple cents more.
Before you get to excited you need to know a job that paid a $1.25 an hour was great. The normal was was like $.75/hour.
In the summer my bother an I hauled hay, small squares, from the field and stacked in three story barns for $.10 a bail using our truck. We made a fortune.
