Question 6637 Mod

I have a couple of questions for the 6637 mod. When you do that and remove the airbox, what do you mount the battery too? Also when you remove the airbox, do you remove the tube that come from the front to bring in cold air or leave that in there to help supply the filter?

When I installed mine, I only removed the air fitler box, I left the floor and cover on the battery, so there were no changes to the way the battery mounted. My 6637 fits in really snug between the battery and the master cyl.

Oh yeah, 2000 F250...

Here is a pic on how mine looks. Just take filter box off and put the 6637 in. And don't forget to order one of Pete's filter covers.

Exactly the same for mine. Really simple, do your best to use the factory tube with no adapters. A hair dryer for heat is a big help if the temp is below 75 degree's.

what is the difference between the 6637 and the 6673, besides $55.00??

or did the person that posted the other day about making a filter tray out of home depot plastic windows mix up the numbers??

6673??? Did someone typo???

I had mine on directly, but recently put a 4" exhaust pipe inline for peace of mind. It can get loose and fall off (even though mine didn't). With that pipe on there, you *KNOW* it ain't falling off...

Typo. That's a 6637 filter.

EDIT: Your Avatar is creeping me out...

OK thanks a lot. I might go and cut the sides off the box and not use the top to clean up the corner.

There's probably a slight chance that I'm the only member here that has driven the Alaskan Highway twice and spent 5 months up there on the dirt and gravel roads with the 6637 mod using the stock tube right to the filter neck with never a hint of it coming loose. I'm just as strange about stuff like that as I am at hiding exposed wiring inside the cab.

Mine got loose, so that was good enough reason for me. Plus, I just had the extra pipe anyway...

I did make a typo.... Sorry for the confusion.

I took everything out of mine except the inlet pipe so I could still utilize the zoodad mod.

If you have the time, make a box for your truck it really isn't hard. I truely suck at making things like this so if I can do it, you can.

I used some Hanging wire (not to be confused with hanger wire) I used the kind that is used to hold air conditioning ducts on ceilings and bolted it to the side using one of the bolts that the original filter box used. This seemed to work really well, it hasn't moved on me yet...
