Checked for codes on My truck tonight, Found P1249. Waste gate steady state failure. What can be done to fix this and will this make Me have bad fuel millage? Have been getting about 14 mpg lately. Use to get 18. Any help or response will be appreacted.
This is what I saw listed as probale cause -GND short, plugged hose/port, wastegate solenoid, wastegate actuator
Wastegate problem could cause loss of boost which can lower MPG.
The wastgate solenoid is mounted on the front of the spider. Check to make sure the connector is tight. The red line from the wastgate actuator runs to it as well as a green line from the intake hose that goes to turbo. Check those lines.
Picture of wastgate solenoid. It may be mounted vertically as well.
I have no idea on how to check for the GND(ground) short. This is all the help I can give unless I think of something else. At least you will get a bump up the list.
Some programmers throw this code. When you run truck hard, from high boost. I can clear this code and put truck on stock setting, and this code does not come up again.
I put My truck on stock tune about a 6 weeks ago to check fuel millage(thought that was killing my millage). Checked codes and it was there. Was not there when I put it back to stock. Truck seems to run fine, just have poor fuel millage. Checked and changed fuel filter, changed air filter, changed oil, and cleaned EBPV and tube.
