I know this is an old thread, but I never found any pics or description of which wires you used for the "always on" and "key on" colored wires. Trying to figure those out, so if there are any suggestions or lessons learned I'm happy to hear them. Thanks!

Console Vault

I have one of these in mine. Itwould take a little time to get it.
Also there are alarms that will give an audible warning if someone gets too close to your vehicle.

You can also pull your back cup holders in the console up and use that area for a stash spot.

Any numbers on # of break-ins vs. vehicle thefts?

The solution to theft (ie: pulling the fuel pump fuse) doesn't protect
against a break-in.

Any ideas about which is more common?

I'm not so worried about the serious thief. Not going with Jimmie jammers cuz I'd rather have a little dented metal than a busted out window. As for actual theft, I'm thinking the factory PATS is as good as anything for that concern.

I'm looking for a visual deterrent to the casual or lazy thief/ bored kid.

Still researching the wire colors but no luck yet.

I've found that the best way to avoid having the door locks or windows broken is to leave the trucks and cars unlocked.

Sure, I've lost some stuff that I shouldn't have left in the car in the first place, but it just takes a couple times to learn to not leave stuff in the car.

Fortunately GPS has become so inexpensive that I don't even bother to remove that from the windshield, nobody takes that anymore. That's about the only thing of value in the truck.

There isn't a single good reason that I can think of that a checkbook (what is that these days?), a wallet, a purse, a book of CD's, debit cars, credit cards, or cash should be left in an unattended vehicle.

I can see leaving a coat, some tools, and general junk.... Occasionally I'll find the glove compartment opened up, or the center console tossed, but the best defense remains a declaration that there isn't anything worth stealing.

I'd rather keep my wallet in my pocket than have to replace a window, but I'm just lazy that way... And it's not just the Excursion left unlocked. The M3 is unlocked, the Insight is unlocked, the Neon is unlocked. My biggest worry is finding homeless people moved into the back of the Ex when it's cold outside, and if that's my biggest worry of the day, it's not that bad of a day.

Not quite there yet, but I do have a broken a/c compressor clutch that keeps my seat warm when I am not in it and in a bucket in plain sight on the floor I have a quart oil, dirty/banged wrenches and a broken serpentine. All in easy view as a visual deterrent to the thief- this truck may not be running too good.

How hard would it be for them just to bust the center console if they found one of these in it? Almost more worried they'd spend time trying to bust things up to get at this if they saw/found it.... almost screams - "I got $$ in here"

I thought they quit selling those revlco's back in the 90's. My rumorville was that without disclosing how to defeat it.. it involves a wet potatoe (completes the circuit)
