Had my 2003 Excursion broken into last night [punched out door lock, actually broke bottom half of door handle] Once inside punched out ignition switch[broke black key cover off and then punched out key area and damaged cylinder]
A couple ?'s
-Could they of stole the excursion[is the excursion on the pats II system? chip key?]
-By getting a new ignition cylinder, can the cylinder be rekeyed with my existing key?
or do I have to get a new ignition switch with new keys and new locks[ the door and hatch] and then reprogram the pats II system?
-If needed, can I use Autoenginuity to program the pats II system?
Thanks

As far as the chip I want to say not as easy but ppl have there ways. And as for rekeying yes they can.
The would be thief thought it was as easy to steal as a Super Duty.
Most thieves know that trying to steal an Excursion is a good waste of time because of the PATS. That's why they just break into an Excursion and go after the 99-07 Super Duties, much easier to steal.
On another forum I am on (Caco), a guy said his escalade got stoles in less than 3 mins. And after a few ppl chimed in apparently if u know what u are doing u can steal pretty much anything under 3 mins. Our stupid keyless entry makes it easier if u ask me.

That's because with most Chevy trucks and SUVs it's just a matter of either drilling the tumblers and using a flat blade screw driver or popping the ignition out however they do and starting it from there.
Guy had that happen at the last company I worked for. He came outside at 3:00 to move his 2006 Silverado and everybody thought he left earlier. Well thieves left with his truck. If he didn't have lo-jack, he would've never seen it again.
Ya just wanted to verify about the excursion with the pats system because it didn't make sense why they tried the ignition with a screw driver, already had my 2000 f250 stolen a couple months ago [found 24hrs later with just ignition damaged and put a new one from a wrecker]
Now what about the key cylinder, can I get a kit off ebay to rekey my own and then put back into the steering column with my original key and will it start?
