Somebody sell a plate the goes inside the door and is supposed to prevent access by prying the lock cover. This was a common problem on the 87-99 Chevy trucks as well. They would pry on the trim the surround the door handle. A company strarted making them years ago now makes them for Ford superduty and excursion. I can't remember what it is called though. Do a google search. You have to remove the inside door panel to install them. I suppose you could make your own. I wouldn't remove or cover up the key hole. That just seems like it would cause issues at some point.
As was already posted above (post #4) that's the JimmiJammer setup.
Holy mother of God this LED light is bright. I got one off the internet as someone before suggested and this sucker is BRIGHT. I guess if someone wants it they'll get it anyway though.

The brightness is good. People see it.
People will not break in (most of the time) if they think an alarm is going to go off.
My wifes X has been broken into twice in four in a half years. The first time the passenger side front window was shattered but nothing was missing. Parked at a bar break in occured around midnight. The cop said it could have been gang related. The strange thing was when I went to pick up the truck the factory horn was honking.
Second time was about a year ago parked right next to a sign in the middle of the day mind you "Please don't leave valuables in vehicles". My wife and I sort of laughed when we set the Python alarm. We were less than half a mile away from the vehicle for a couple hours and when we got back to it the passenger side window was shattered (again) the alarm was not going off at all (no page either) and her purse was gone and two weeks later found out my personal check book was stolen.
The funny thing is the checking account had a low balance until a couple days prior to use when I slapped a large amount into it. The low life who had the check book was caught red handed. The police believe a gang could have also been responsible for the theft and it was sold or traded to the guy who was caught with the check book.
The funny thing is the factory alarm detered the thugs while the aftermarket alarm did nothing to deter them.

that alot of gangs after your truck! where the hell do you hang out??
seriously, get the compustar PRO 2wssr, and i GAURENTEE your trucks safty! this alarm even has an add on like onstar where it will also call your cellphone if your alarm goes off!! but i promise you i never miss a page with my unit! VERY satisfied with it!! and another tip, when you go with an aftermarket alarm, and they add the siren, you always have the option for you horn to go off to. thats what i did, i have the siren and horn, VERY LOUD!!
I'll get by your "compustar PRO 2wssr" in about 2 minutes and be driving away with your truck. Its actually easier to steal these trucks with the aftermarket alarms due to the factory chip in the key is constantly defeated and you rely exclusively on the aftermarket alarm. I wont go into how easy it is to defeat the aftermarket alarm, but lets just say it is EXTREMELY easy and somewhat common sense. Your factory anti-theft is quite a bit harder to defeat by amateur or your average car thief.
This is all you need to make sure your car is not stolen, when properly installed A THIEF WILL NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR AWAY. Well maybe if he spent HOURS playing with wiring, and even then he better be damn good at what he is doing. Short of a tow truck or half a day to figure out wiring your car will not go anywhere. Its cheap compared to fancy alarms and WAY more effective.

The blinking light and siren discourages smash and grabs, but a very basic alarm is as good as the fancy ones in this area in my opinion.
hey, whatever your smoking, id LOVE some !!!
ill bet you pink slips you wont steal my truck, my alarm is NOT installed with a factory key in a key box that defeats the factory key chip. it has a module built in that learns and only alows access when i am using it. anything is possible and any car can be stolen, but i GAURENTEE you that the compustar PRO series alarm is 10X more effective than a factory unit! it someone eould have to rip apart the dash, remove the COMPUSTAR brain, rewire all the ignition and starter wires, then from there have to bypass the factory chip in the key, i dont care if your an electrician genious you will be there hours, and all thease hours of you being there my pager will be going crazy, my vehicle horn and alarm siren will be going off and even if you cut the wires on the siren it is battery backup protected that lasts hours, so unless the car thief has the ba**s to sit there and dismantle a car while the alarm is going off for hours, i doubt you will steal it! and ALSO, it has another feature where if you get car jacked and someone taked the keys from you the alarm waits about 30 seconds and disables the vehicle. believe me i am not trying to argue with you, its just that my best friend owns a car electronics shop (audio video and pritty much all vehicle wiring and electronics) and he has been doing it for years, and thease alarms are the one of the BEST out there! NO factory can compete, not even close!
Cutting wires....ripping out panels...dismantling dashes....does anyone want their truck back after someone disfigures it? I have the Viper and it's fine, and it compliments the factory system, in addition to remote start - the chip key was programmed to still work. Unless you've had a vehicle stolen, then found and returned (I have - on day 29, 4 days after I already bought a new one, and 1 day shy of when the insurance company had to pay me) you probably don't realize that you seldom want it back. I sure didn't, and ended up taking a healthy loss and moved on. I think the compustar is very similar to the viper in that it has all the disabling features and about as much proximity protection as you can handle, including the paging features. I have one on 5 different vehicles and love it - especially on the convertible so you can just hit a button and walk away - but the reason I put them in is primarily to protect contents and possessions - the vehicles themselves mean very little - and if stolen, I don't want to see them again.
id rather my truck be messed with than some retard driving down the road with it giggling like a little scgool girl. besides when i get my page he will be meeting my shotgun!!
VIPER is another good one, u used to have it, if you ever get another alarm im telling you, try the compustar, my friend is the one who made me make the switch and i love it. it has the best range, thats my maine thing. and it has an add on, which i am eventually getting where you can control your vehicle from ANYWHERE VIA satellite, lets say its WICKED HOT out and you abut 20 minuted away from your truck, you simple call a number with your cell phone and tell the system to start your truckm (kinda like onstar), and it does more cool feauters like if you lock your keys in your truck, or if you let the wife or your kids take the X .. you can track it online and even see how fast she is moving...
I got broken into last night. I Bought my X 2 weeks ago and was unaware the rear hatch didnt lock at all (key or remote). They just opened the rear and cleaned me right out. It made me really mad. At least they closed all the doors when they were done! I'm looking into taking some precautions in securing the vehicle better as well. I'll start with fixing the rear hatch!
I still say revelco is by far the most effective anti theft (as in them starting your car and driving away) system on the market. Also much cheaper then a crazy fully optioned alarm system that I USED to be a fan of.
DavidDC I have yet to hear pf a module that learns your keys code and mimicks the signal to allow the vehicle to remote start. Not sure when something like this came out, as it must have been after I got out of the car alarm game. After ravelco's introduction, I dont see a need for the fancy alarms anymore. Waste of money in my opinion now. I had high end 2 way systems with all the toys from proximity sensors, to rediculously loud sirens, piezo's screaming in your ear if you stuck your head near the alarm, battery backups all that jazz. For that kinda $ you can just fix teh damn truck if its recovered after a theft. That stuff gets expensive!
Again I have never seen anything that doesnt make you give up a factory key to basiclaly defeat the factory system 100% of the time, but times have chanegd so maybe there is something like this on the market now. Do you know what they call this nifty lil item exactly?
Bottom line though, if they cant drive it away, they will tow it away. Again, why I like the revelco system as its less $ out of pocket and more effective in my personal experience.
Super duty's actually have their own lil page on the ravelco site, they are quite the hot item in some areas.
I have been lucky as I have not been "broke" into. But we did have a theft occur. I had left doors unlocked and windows half down at a large rodeo. They took my cd book (over 200 cd's grrrrrr) I later foundout that at this particular rodeo ground cd theft was the common theft from vehicles. So a week later I was set to run there again and bought a cd book from a thrift store and then loaded it with AOL and verizon DSL discs and laid it on the front floor board and waited on top of my horsetrailer camera in hand for a while. Sure enough two teenage boys and their dad walked by, looked around and climbed on running board and took book of cds. I video taped and LMAO as they put it in a bag and continued walking. I gave tape to security and get this they were caught by their car saying "what the hell" as they looked through their "new" cds.
I just dont get peeps who do stuff like breaking into a vehicle. But all can be outfoxed in one way or another. I like the light idea. but how many thieves know they are fake? or can you spot a fake?
I have not yet been busted into, but I don't even have back seats, much less keep my GPS, phone ect. in the truck when parked. I do however transport tens of thousands of dollars of audio gear to and from gigs. Most of the time I have parking with a security guard, but sometimes I don't.
When I used to go visit my sis in NYC overnight in my Exploder, I used to remove the fuel pump relay switch. Even if they get in, and get it started, it won't stay running very long without any juice getting to the fuel pump. I'd like to use this solution on my X, but I can't find the fuel pump relay. Anyone know where it is?
