FTE Site Upgrade - New issue for checking threads

I see FTE has ugraded to the newest VBulliten software...no problem. Leaving rep points is easier now than it was. Othewise I have not come across any issues except for one and I'd like to know if anyone else is experiencing it or not.

Edit: editing a post is now a lot easier too. Edit #2: I see we have the mulit-quote function now as well. Nice!

I use gmail and IE 7, and typically when I get a notification to a subscribed thread I simply right click the link to the new post and tell it to open in a new tab and it opens a tab to the new post. It's worked that way since IE 7 was out. However, when I try to do that now, it takes me to the whole forum index, here: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Ford truck and SUV owners and enthusiasts Community And Information Source.

The link in the email is correct as I can copy the link, paste it into an address bar which takes me to the new post, and it will open to the new post in a new window ok, but just not a new tab. When I try to open the link in a new tab, the address bar appears to be taking me to the correct link and new post, as that's what it displays. It shows the correct link for a few seconds, then it changes it automatically to the forum index.

Anyone else having similar issues? I know there's way's around it, like switch browsers - but I don't think its an IE7 problem, copy and paste link - takes longer and shouldn't have to, open in a new window instead of tab - defeats the convenience of tabs. I don't see the reason to have the work around though.

Why is the link automatically redirecting me to the forum index? Especially when the correct link is initially displayed in the address bar?

Before you tried to go directly from email to thread, had you previously looged into thenew version of the forum, and told it to remember you.
you might need a new cookie.

I'm sure Brandon is correct. It is a cookie issue.

I had to log in to even check the first one. It shows me logged in, but after a few seconds the address bar automatically redirects me (after showing the correct link) to the forum index. I even just logged out, then back in, and the same thing is happening.

It's doing this...displays this address in the new tab for about 1.5 seconds: FTE Site Upgrade - New issue for checking threads - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Then automatically redirects to this: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Ford truck and SUV owners and enthusiasts Community And Information Source.

It shows the correct address to begin with, so I don't understand what's causing it to change on its own.

I'm gonna guess they're still working the bugs out of some things. The search feature isnt working for me and none of us have supporters badges next to our names.

Have you tried clearing your cache and deleting cookies? Maybe logging out and in just isnt cutting it for you.

In your browser, go to Tools>internet options. There is a place to delete. I forget exactly for IE7.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but IE is junk. It has tons of holes that stuff can get in through. Mozilla Fire-Fox is much better. It has a built-in spell checker plus it won't have all those openings in it that bad stuff can get in through. I only run Mozilla on my computers and it works with everything I've encountered so far.

What was wrong with the other way? I like the new updated look, just hope we don't have the problems with errors trying to log in like before. Links in my e-mail don't work either.

Yup. So it seems like the search feature is only searching threads started since the update. I searched glow plugs from the main page and only got two threads.
