Post 302 Balance Question?

I have a '85 302 motor(50oz balance)and would like to use harmonic balancer and flywheel from a '77 F-100(28oz)on it.....will the newer crank work with the older parts?????
Thanks for any input!

302 Balance Question?

mike that would be a big no no! the fly wheel and the harmonic balancer work together. so mixing the either part will create a very large vibration which can lead to crank bearing problems. hope this helps.

302 Balance Question?

Don't do it. The crank, balancer and flywheel/flexplate are balanced as a unit; you can't mix and match them. 50 oz ('82-up) cranks require the 50 oz balancer and flywheel/flexplate and the 28 oz (pre-'82) cranks require the 28 oz versions.
