I posted a similar question in another part of this site, but since this is an engine question, I thought I would post here also. If this is wrong, sorry, just delete my post.
my question is, I have a 69 F600, with a vin of F61DJG10039. Is "D" the engine code, and what engine does it specify? Thru my research, I think this truck has an FE engine, but beyond that, I don't know. Thanks for your help.
I don't know about the engine codes, but my FIL had a mid -70's F600 and had the 370 cube V8, which I believe was only available in medium duty Ford trucks.
This engine was either an FE or a 385 big block (I lean towards a 385) and although not a monster, moved the F600 grain truck quite well. Maybe it was this engine.
Close, it is probably a FT, which is related to the FE. The 330 medium duty and I believe the 359 had the same crank snout size and oil pump as the FE. The 330 heavy duty, 361 and 391 had a bigger crank snout, larger oil pump and larger oil pump shaft. Thats about all I know about the FT series motors.
