nice truck, t case brace on some not all ran from the lower side back of the case back to a crossbember bout 3 ft away, i assume it was it you hit something it didn't peel off the case, i'll get it dropped out this weekend and check it out
Negative Batman. Ive had 3 highboys and all three had NP205 cases(part-time) and all three had the brace. 2 had 4spd trannys and 1 had and auto. Mind you that its been said that the highboys came with 2 different t case bushings square or round. Ive read taht in a couple places. I had 2 square adn one truck had the round but im thinkin it had somethin to do with the years.
Don't listen to them! hehe.. there's nothing in there to vibrate.. unless there's something wrong with your shafts. I solid mounted mine with a custom cross member and it's been fine. I see in your sig you are running 38" tires.. like me.. they create more vibration than anything in the driveline possibly could .
I should also mention that in the winter I run smaller radials to run around town in and there's no vibration in the drivetrain to speak of that I can feel.
Another with it in, but not everything hooked up yet:
This has nothing to do with this thread really, but here's the side shot.. the t-case is 1/2" from the cab. I guess a guy could make a recess or somehow clock the case, but for now, this is good.
Is there any Mountain that you cannot climb? Wonderful job on the undercarriage; very clean! Out here in the Mojave Hi-Desert your truck would definitely "command" the territory!
3 hours. Looks like a great truck to buy for $1500. ****** the 60 out and slap a 44 in and re sell for $1200 with a title/vin tag that magically appeared in the glove box.
I guess its kind of like having traction bars an your T-case, well it must work for Pro.
I thought that looked like Pros setup. Im not sure if its factory or something he built. Im not even sure of its function because a "traction bar" for your t-case should be mounted parallel to the case not perpendicular. This style wouldnt allow front to back movement but would allow rotational movement of the case and Im not sure why that would be needed/wanted.
fwiw,i found this in some old threads on another site, those bars were called strut rods and were there to keep the transfer case from kicking for and aft as they have a tendancy to do this under heavyload(such as towing) a divorced transfer case tends to jerk forward-and-aft and makes for a rough ride and the truck's drivetrain takes a good beating from it.
Many, but not all, 73-77 F-250 4x4's with the NP205 case came with a factory strut rod that consisted of a plate that bolted to the NP205's lowest rear cover, a tube that bolts to one of several adjustment holes in the lower bracket and an angled bracket with rubber shock bushings that's riveted to a frame crossmember.
