Hi everyone. Has any one used a doner master and booster. I know of all the kits available but there pricey. I want to keep the master under the cab on my 52. There is a 7" & 8'' booster kit, but where is this measurement taken. Are they 7'' or 8'' exactly in diamater. I found a web site that you can enter the type of a car and it will give you pics and measurements of the master & boosters. I am running 4 wheel disc and i thought the set up off of a exploder may work. Its a little under 10'' but will it fit under the cab? Thanks for any help.
i have a mustang brake booster under the cab and i don't think there is much room for a big 10''. The mustang booster should not cost more then the explore booster.
Thanks. Just checked that web site I mentioned. Its list that Mustang booster as the same size as the one for the explorer. (Sweet)I would like to use the explorer stuff because they had four wheel discs. If any one is interested that web site is www.cardone.com
My 49 is currently set up with an 8 " dual booster and master cylinder on a new mount that I fabricated but I retained the stock pedal (only the bell crank portion since I moved the stock crossmember back (engine/trans change). My 8" under cab is an extremely tight fit. I asked around some about using a 7 inch dual and did not get a good feeling that I would be happy. My front is Jag with 4 puck calipers. I also modified the master clylinder to use a remote brake reservoir and fabricated the reservoir. I think that the kits to adapt the stock pedal setup to power brakes just use a 7 inch dual. My expereince suggests a very tight fit for an 8" and an absoloute no to a 10" under the cab floor.
Thanks 49willard. Do you know if the booster is exactly 8'' in diameter? They call them 7'' & 8'' but where is this measurement taken? Would you have any pics? Also looked at your gallery and was wondering what your rad is from? (Nice job on tne hvac)Thanks REG

I only had one picture of the brake booster installed. I just added an album to my gallery with that picture. I believe that the 8 inch is the larger diaphram diameter. Mine came out of a pre abs 4wd S-10.
The radiator is a mid 70's dodge pickup. Several of us on the forum use it. See bobbyttm gallery.
Here is a picture of mine, I bought the unit together but there is no reason you couldn't make it yourself. The master is GM, problably look for a Corvette and the booster is a 7 in GM. The bracket can be made very easlily and I can measure it up for you if needed, its just some flat stock welded at the proper distance. I am using my stock pedal as well and fits in very nicely except I had to modify my new T5 crossmember to go around the booster.
I am using a 7" booster from a 88 Bronco II along with the stock brake pedal, it fits with no clearance problems. I am also using the stock master cylinder from a Lincoln Town Car to match my IFS and rear end.
Hi Reg
Would you have a picture of the mounting of
the booster on your truck?
Thanks
Bob
The Brake Booster for the "Orphan Years", '57-'60 trucks is different\ly mounted than the Afertermarket ones for the '56 & before models.
So it is Not a useable option for us.
Thanks guys for the great advice. I start on my engine mounts tomorrow then the crossmember but I need to decide on my booster set up. I think I will look for one of those Bronco boosters. Doing one of these builds is a lot more fun when you get a bunch of different ideas. Thanks again
