Unless you're running it out in the dunes it seems like a waste of time and money to me, I don't think you'd see enough gain to justify all of the work.
The goal is for long travel. A company called Autofab did this to a Ranger and gets 19" travel with coils. If they notched the frame and ran coilovers, they could get 22" they say. I want to do this to an explorer to make a prerun/expedition/do anything type vehicle. With the smaller size and weight of the explorer compared to the F150, a D44 TTB with 35s should last plenty long.
So, are there any 91-94 Explorer experts on here? what do they run t-case and transmission wise? I think the 4.0 V6 is the best I can get (stock) I think the 5.0 started in 95.
A 5.0 swap wouldnt be a big issue. As for the Captains comments about a waste of time and money... a 91-94 explorer can be had for dirt cheap, I have the D44, so the money argument is sunk, as for time? what else am I gonna do when I get back?
awww jeez i wasnt talkin about that, not here ill get the ban hammer...
anyways... how bout a drink on me... if your anywhere close or at mudfest.... ill bring a 30 pack and ya can help yourself!
