My fiancee has a 2005 F150 with just under 36k miles. The truck has had a vibration from the rear end since about 5k miles. It has been to two different Ford dealerships. This current dealership has "fixed" it twice. So she just picked it up again and again the vibration is still there. I am going with her this time to bitch at the guys. So I have been doing some research but am not finding anything concrete. What are our, her, options here? From what I have read the lemon law requires the dealer to replace the truck if the same problem has been "fixed" four or more times. Anyone have any good info or recommendations for us?
Have the dealer check the drive shafts, they have been known to throw the ballance weights off because they are only glued there. I had a terrible driveline vibration also and when the dealer looked at it the weights were missing off both shafts. The tech said this was a commom fault and they ordered 2 new driveshafts.

I was thinking about the driveshaft but I have been doing the truck thing for a while and it just doesn't feel like a driveshaft vibration. It only does it under acceleration and turning. If it was a relatively constant vibration I would lean towards the driveshaft. The truck just came back today and it's even worse. The vibration is kind of gone, I think, but there is this awful sound from the rear. Almost like the brakes are locked up or there is no oil in the rear end. In any case it's way worse then when we brought it in. Back it goes tomorrow for the fourth time.
I think there's too many computer tech trying to fix trucks these days. If it's not a plug in problem they don't have the basic machanical skills to be able to troubleshoot. It's getting hard to find a REAL mechanic these days. I've fixed pleanty of problems that couldn't be found at the dealer because I don't know the computer side of troubleshooting, just the old school way. Good luck.
Yeah. That is what they replaced the third time around. The first attempt on fixing it was at a different dealership. They added some shims on the rear axle and said it was fixed. Not even close. Well that dealership has since closed. The next dealership and the second "fix" they claim they replaced the differential. I don't believe them and the problem was still there. As I said the third time they replaced the clutch plates. Now it's way worse. It's so bad it's almolst undriveable. I feel the rear end is going to seize up any second. Now it's going back for attempt number four.
I agree with what you are saying Duste. If I had the time I could probably find it and fix it myself. They claim to have a driveline/differentials specialist there. That is pretty sad considering that the problem is worse. I don't know how they can let the truck go out sounding like it does. It's sick. I even just took my 08 F350 in for an oil change and clunking sound. They said their suspension guy wasn't in so they could do nothing until Monday. Well how Fn hard is it for some guy to get underneath and look to see what is clunking? It's just retarted. I'm going to just get under there myself this afternoon when I get it back and tighten whatever it is thats loose. Freakin morons.

Your a much better man than I am. I would have already had my boot up thier a$$! The web site that you were given should help, may I also suggest that you call Ford customer service when ever you have 45 minutes to spare. You can the 1-800 number inside your owners manual. Get all the repair invoices together when you call, this will show the representative that you are organized. Be very calm, discuss your loyalty to FMC and see what they offer. -Moderator Snip-
We pay way too much for our vehicles to have to put up with crap like that!

Reason: Removed: If all else fails, hire an attorney. Go after the dealer(s) and FMC.
Itried the cutomer NO Service number, all I got was it was an issue with the dealer and the service manager, that it was NOT thier problem. I told them I had tried that route to resolve my trouble and that why I called. Still didn't want to get involved, wasn't thier fight. I told them they should care because this dealer was representing Ford and doing a poor job at it, I also told them I had been ford for over 20 years and how much I like the 06 I bought, just the dealer was ****. No help from Ford at all, so the next time I want to by a new car or truck, it won't be a Ford. They don't deserve my money.
duste, that is the exact reason I am driving a Ford today. Chevrolet did the same thing to me, I have emails from them telling me that they consider the situation solved, though nothing was fixed on the truck! Won't even look at another chevy! I (fortunately) have had very good service with Ford. The sales dept at my dealership I use for service are idiots, but service is okey. Any problems with Ford and here I come Toyota!!
The worst is my Dealer here is absolutely fantastic, I bought the truck while I was away in Ont. for over a year and my 02 F150 gave me more trouble than I thought possible, at least it all happened at once and didn't turn into a money pit. I just happened to be in the mood to truck shop when I spied a 06 Supercrew witrh the 6.5 bed, one of the first produced, and I fell in Lust. 2 weeks later after I ordered the truckis when the grief started, all at the dealer level. My current dealer here in Nova Scotia looks after me like I was thier only customer, and to move to another brand would be hard, but when FORD of Canada treats people the way they did me, I just don't want to deal with them anymore. Thier Idea of not getting involved is only going to hurt the dealer that has done everything right.
The P.O.S. dealer is ***** FORD on Ontario Canada.

...or lemon law
Also, Fwiw... A lot of the '04 (new body style)and maybe some '05s had a vibration dampener installed per some sort of TSB. I can't recall all of the particulars involved with it though.
Are you serious? I can't ask a simple question about lemon laws? WTF is that? Is this a Dictatorship? China?
nope, just a site that has to worry about being held responsible for what some people may post and then do. It's in the rules man.
You can discuss your truck going through the Lemon process, but you cannot go around soliciting opinions and discussing the matter from a legal standpoint. Or try to get people together for a Class action.
Another member, Memsu (spelling?) had a long drawn out process all of last year and part of this year. He treaded the line, but never really crossed it. Look him up.

Thanks for the reminder, however, the recommendation was made and only made to seek legal advise and to check the lemon law, the line was never crossed. The legality of the situation was never discussed.
The man did all the right things right. He went to a variety of dealers, no help, he called FMC, they turned thier back on him as well. Then he brought it to the forum to see if anyone had experience in this matter or sound advise.
A sincere thank you for keeping us between the lines.
