Sorry for the long thread. I'm pretty pissed and I'm hoping someone can help and I'm venting some frustration at the same time.
I have this on going problem with my F250 (2003, 5.4 with 92,000 miles)that the dealership cannot seem to figure out. I've had my truck at the dealership 4 times in the last 2 months. First time they replaced the VSS ($280), next time they repalced the PCM ($950). I still have the problem......the truck will start to shake/vibrate. It feels like a miss but it also kind of feels like torque converter shutter. The latest thing is that the truck started to stall. The CEL came on and the OD light blinked a few times. The truck is at the dealership again. They checked the codes and they said it's a bad COP. They changed the COP and spark plug. Could the dealership have been that far off with their original diagnostic? I am pretty pissed at this point.....I've spent $1,300 bucks and nothing has been fixed. Can a bad COP cause the OD light to blink? I'm hoping this will finally fix the problem.
You can check the wires in your steering column and see if a wire insulation is chafed off causing a short. Not sure if that is the problem, but won't hurt to check. This is a known problem with SD.
