wierd problem with light
Does the Fan itself have the same sympton. or just the bulb ?
could just bypass the dimmer, wire it direct, to see if that is where the problem lies, if no change have a look at the socket to see any signs of arcing on the contacts, could be a bad socket, if socket is in good shape, look for lose connections.
Usually when switches fail, you have to fool with them to get the light on.
-- although a dimmer COULD do something along those lines.
Bad wire nuts/poor connections usually are sensitve to vibration.
Crummy plating in a socket could cause what you describe.
Ghosts would probably cause more flicker. Also, they would probably cause the light/fan to come on by themselves

Is your house built over a cemetery?
One word.............POLTERGEIST.............Just like 50calmike posted.
Maybe Ghost Busters can help; possibly Beetlejuice
Probably a lose connection, just like posted.
Get it fixed. Lose connections can be bad news.
