right now im rebuilding a 3306 cat in school. when i started it was a block and crank with the rest of the motor strewn all over the place. (it was like a scavenger hunt) well its getting close to run time but i dont have injectors. i did however find a set of 3406B pencil type injectors in lab. the only problem is that they have a female fitting and the 3306 has female injection lines. can i even run these injectors? they fit in the holes and the hold downs fit. their not to long. the only diffrence i can find is that they have a female fitting for the line. this is only going to be a stand motor so my instructor dosent really feel like shelling out that much $ for the injectors.
i might have to. but i talked to the machine shop today and they said that they could make the addaptors for me. also talked to the top cat tech in ohio he said hes never heard of anybody running 3406B injectors on a 3306. but he agreed with me that the pump would be able to pop the injectors off.
dont do it i was a tech at michigan cat engine division the spray pattern is different and vop psi is different will cause a a timing difference very bad idea.
good idea take the 3406 nozzels to your cat dealer and see if they will trade yours for some 3306 cores talk to the general mang of that store a good cat dealer will help you
Dont even consider running those injectors! They are a totally different breed of animal. Try and locate a truck junkyard for a set of used injectors or contact your local cat dealer.
