I have a 1992 E250 van when I'm driving the van for more than 10-15 minutes the brake light and the ABS light will come on the dash and stay on. If I shut the van off and restart it will go away for a short while. The brake work fine don't feel mushy and I haven't had any problems, and no leaks. What could be causing the light to come on? could old brake fluid be causing this?
I also did a search on the forum and read a lot about a pressure differential value but everyone had said they had some kind of brake failure prior to this happening. I have not had a brake failure, could this be causing it still?
Old brake fluid will not cause this. Have you checked the fluid level though? The ABS light will be monitoring the ABS system and the brake light is monitoring the fundimental brake system. The propotioning valve will cause the light to come on but only as a result of some brake component faiure like a wheel cylinder. Good luck.
Yes the fluid level is fine, that was the first thing that I had checked. Don't know if this helps or not but this problem started surfacing the same time I had a speed sensor go bad could this some how be related to that.
i had the same abs problem with my 94 four wheel abs system i replaced both front wheel sensors and it fixed the problem if you pull the rotors and just try cleaning the rust off of the sensor its helps but in the long run its easyer to just replace them .....
