1998 E350 Super w/ABS Problems
At times, after I've driven the vans for a while in the day, I will notice that upon depressing the brake pedal it gives a little bit, and then I feel a clicking with my foot on the pedal. If I press harder the pedal gives again, and then may cause the brakes to apply harder than desired...almost locking it seems. I usually will pump the brakes if I have the stoping time, and that sometimes will cause the problem to disappear. I have noticed that after sitting for a while it takes a little driving time to activate the problems described. It may go away and not return all day, or I may have the problem for the rest of the day..still intermittant..not everytime I apply the brakes. I just picked my van up from the Ford dealer in the area here, and their diagnostic could find nothing in the computer on the van except a code 68, which they said meant nothing more that the ABS light had been activated. So, they can find nothing wrong, and nothing happened during their test drive. My regular mechanic looked over the brake system, and said he could see nothing mechanically wrong. I just had new brakes put on about 2000 miles ago. I have one tire in the front that is kind of chopped, and that was thrown out by my mechanic as a possible cause...effecting the sensor? I am of the feeling that the culprit is either a faulty sensor, or the modulator...just from what I've read on the Internet tonight. I am no expert..believe me.
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problem?
I need help.
I hate driving around knowing my brakes are less than they should be.
Thanks..
