This Summer I bought a 1977 F-150. A previous owner told me he put a 351w police intercepter in it. He said the engine came out of a cop car.
He could not remember the model or year of car it came out of. It runs good, lots of power and only uses/leaks about a 1/2 qt. of oil between changes.
My question is can anyone help me identify the engine? It is a 351w, it has gray valve covers, a gray oil pan and the oil pan has 2 drain plugs! One at the front of the pan and 1 at the back.
Sounds like the 80's Crown Vic/Grand Marquis 351W. I have most of one left over as you describe it. Does it have an aluminum 2 bbl intake on it? If so it likely originally had "VV" variable venturi junk on top from the factory.
Block casting number will be just above the starter. Intake casting number should be on one of the intake runners in front of the carb/vv. A Ford 2bbl carb bolts directly in place of the vv junk, BTW.
I just took a 351police interceptor out of the folks cop car. It was an 84 crown vic. Sounds like you have the same thing with the double sump oil pan and VV carb on it. I took mine apart just to see if anything was diffent about a police interceptor. ie heads or block. But found nothing to be very different than any stock 351. I know that the old boat would move about 135mph with 120,000 on the car. I was disapointed hoping to find a good set of heads or a roller block but found nothing of interest. The only cool thing I saved off the car was the awsome spotlight and the factory 140 speedometer.
Fordifieds
the police interceptor should have more compression. i have a 352 police interceptor and the heads are different and has more compression does anybody know the stock horsepower for a 352 police interceptor and torque
