i have a 96 f150 with the 5.0. i'm leaving in a few days for the lake (600 mile round trip). i just put in a new fuel pump in the front tank today due to the fact that it was going bad. since the day i have owned my truck it has always started/idled rather weak after the engine is warmed up or at operating temp. idles nice and strong when started for first time, then after i drive it the idle gets weak and if i blip the throttle it almost cuts out when it drops down to idle speed again, never actually does though. i just want to make sure it will hold out on my up comming trip. i have new plugs wires and distributor cap as well as a k&n intake. newer fuel filter, new thermostat and coolant. truck runs well with little problem. just doesnt seem quite as strong when warmed up. any ideas?
What does the motor idle at with the IAC wire disconnected? Adjust the hard throttle
stop screw with it and the spout disconnected to get the idle around 750rpm or so.
IF you haven't cleaned the Iac it could be due since the solenoid deal really isn't
that powerful a bit of build up and you get a slow response.
the IAC is probably what it is i'll have to check it out when i get some time later. thanks for the help. i'll post after i get the chance to look at it
