Hi All,

I'm looking at a spare starter for my '88 7.3. The owner says it fits a 7.3 from '93 to '97. That crosses the line between IDI and powerstroke. Will a powerstroke starter from those years fit my truck (if it actually is a powrstroke starter) ?
It's a Mitsu that was used only a short time.

 

Powerstroke WILL NOT fit.The starter you have is a mitsubishi gear reduction starter .It will fit the 6.9 and 7.3. only.Also a case backhoe nippendso makes a perfect starter for your engine.

The Mitsubishi starter became available in 88 I think.they were used until the powerstokes came out.There is two different mitubishi starters on market.The starter for the 6.9-7.3 will have a nose cone on them.the starter for the powerstroke does not .You can get on Ebay and actually see some pics if that will help.
