Sorry, it's not a Ford, but it shows what a properly set up van can do in the quarter mile...with a small block no less. This is a local guy (Michigan) who drives the van to the strip....talk about yer street sleeper.
yeah this van is quite popular, i seen some pictures of the inside of it once on a website, its actually customized! its got a fuel cell, grey carpet, roll bar and some other odds and ends, if i find the website ill give a link. I think this van is powered by a 408 small block? or something like that.
I should be turning heads soon...I'm finishing up my 2003 E150 5.4L with Manley forged H-beam rods and pistons, ported and polished stage-2 heads, Comp cams, 4.10 gears, and a Lightning blower and intercooler setup bolted on top. Should be fun!

There is a mid 60s Econoline terrorizing ET Raceway in Newberry, Indiana. The van is bright yellow with a full cage. It is both NHRA and street legal. I have thought about using a E-100 swb van and Ford Racing 347 Stroker but I rent and landlord says "No Junk Cars"
Owner is a Quadriplegic, really cool guy, attends some Truck 'ins with the vanning group, there is an early Econoline called Alpine, it's white with blue graphics, I took pictures at the 05 Vannin Nationals, it's wicked. There was a 440 powered 70's Dodge van owned by Hurricane Wayne, it's down getting an engine built, highly customized, has a solid straight front axle under it.
I've hung around the vannin site for some time, been to some Truck 'ins too, they are a great group of people, and for the ones looking information, it's the only place to go, some are cutting out entire pieces to their vans and replacing them. A few guys are totally rebuilding vans from the ground up, cutting out entire walls and floors and either replacing them, or totally modifying them. Look up Lions Den, it was a radical custom from the 70's, it's being rebuilt as is Future shock, these vans were major Icons in their day, made it in many magazines, but had ended up being saved from the scrap yards, a reprieve right before getting crushed. They are dedicated to a vannin tradition from years past, committed to keeping the lifestyle alive, if they know you, they will give their left arm to help you out and ask nothing in return, a true brotherhood.
