I had no idea Sterling was involved in this. I could hardly believe it when I saw a pickup coming at me with a Sterling grill. I turned around and followed him to a local hardware store to get a closer look.
That's when I realized it's really a sheep in real truck's clothing.
Yep, built in the same plant as the dodge 4500/5500, really the only difference is the grill as far as I could tell. The one I saw had the Cummins 6.7.
I knew Sterling was a part of Chrylser but I didn't know they made that. It looks a little better then the regular Dodge but still ugly. Kinda like GMC and Chevy
A sad state of affairs for what used to be Ford's Louisville truck line.
Those Louisville's with an automatic transmission are the best farm truck ever built IMO. Double frame, good sheet metal, just plain tough. Literally thousands of them still in service on the farms around here.
I know 2 guys who have already dumped thier 6.0 550s for the dodge/sterlings. The numbers I heard sounds like they are serious about hitting the market. 4 door 5500 4x4 was right at 40k, if that is true it is less than my buddy paid for his 03 550 new, not to mention the 25k he put into it in repairs.
A dodge with a different grill. I havnt heard anything good about the 6.7s. I hear of guys out in the field that have to hold there throttle to the floor while on break to try and clear up the DPF. Plus I drove one and it didnt impress me any.
