You will need a code reader. They are around $30. It will plug into the wiring harness. There is a special plug that is on the driver's side fender, near the hinge for the hood. Plug the code reader there and follow the directions.

What year did Ford go to OBD-II? I think it was either 94 or 95.If it is OBD-I you don't need a code reader to check the codes.You can put a jumper wire(or safety pin) in the connector and count the engine flashes.A haynes manual describes the procedure.You can also do a search on the net.I have found several sites that list the procedure and the codes.
