Can anyone tell me where I may find the EEC in my 85 Bronco.
The truck stalled on me and I have not been able to start it for 2 weeks now, a friend mentioned that I should check the EEC for the codes. I have a list of codes but do not know what the EEC looks like.
The truck just died on me while driving and have not been able to start it since, getting gas and spark, I was told to look at the EEC and get the codes.
The EEC itself should be up under the dash somewhere on the drivers side. The diagnostic connector should be under the hood on or near the passenger side fender. This is the way it is on my truck anyway. What engine is in your Bronco?
my brother had a 85 f-150 4x4 that just up and would not start one day. it had fuel pressure, and spark. we ended up not doing anything with it. he bought a new 4x4. now I have his tranny and engine in my bronco with a carb running it
My 85 Bronco just died on me last week. It had good spark and was getting gas and decent compression. Turned out the timing chain was real loose and slipped. I replaced the timing chain and gears and it started right up. Also fixed one hesitation problem I have been having.
The truck started for me but it runs rough, I checked the EEC codes and got a 21 then a 24 code, the test is supposed to be done with the engine at normal operating temps but I am leary of running it for that amount of time. The code 21 says "Coolant temperature sensor out of specified range" and code 24 says
"Air change temperature sensor out of range"
This sounds to me like the truck just needed to be at operating temps.
When your timing chain slipped were you able to start your truck and if so how good did it run, I may have the same problem you had.
I was looking for a vac leak, so I had the bronco running at idle, and then it flat out died and would not start no matter how much I cranked it. I checked spark, fuel pressure, compression and everything checked out OK, so I decided it was timing through the process of elimination. When I turned the distributor it seemed like it would kick over, but it never did until I changed the chain and gears. Good Luck,
Dan
